If the limit of insurance is reached, what happens to coverage?

Mediclaim policies do not cover future medical expenses during the term of the policy if the insurance limit is reached. The sum insured can be modified at the time of renewal if required. Some insurers offer top-up and super top-up plans for additional coverage after a certain limit is reached. However, if it is a case of hospitalization costs exceeding the authorized limit, the network hospital can request the TPA to enhance the limit by justifying the need for the increase. This is verified by the TPA before approval.
