Each subscriber is issued with a Permanent Retirement Account Number or PRAN card that has a unique 12-digit number. Loss of card entails a reprint fee. Every NPS account has two sub-accounts, namely the Tier I and Tier II. (Please refer questions 79 and 80). While the Government does not make a contribution to the NPS account, those who opt for the Swavalamban scheme may be eligible for Government contribution based on the conditions of the scheme.
